Finding A Part Time Job

Many young people look to finding a part time job to earn some extra money.

Advice on searching for part time vacancies is available on websites such as www.jobsvacancies.org.

As young people are often still in school they need to find a part time job, which fits around their education.

If you are looking for a part time job you should consider the following points:

•     Never apply for a position without writing a CV. If you do not supply a CV it is likely that your application will be rejected.

Your CV is the place from where you should really sell yourself, so detail your skills and achivemenets in work or your personal life.

•    When meeting an employer, being dressed appropriately is important.

One must be that finger-nails and hair are well groomed for the interview.

The outfit worn should be smart or be business casual.

An acceptable casual outfit would be a smart polo shirt with trousers.

Remember to wear smart shoes and limit the amount of jewellery you wear.

•     Remember, searching for a new part time job is not always easy, and you will occasionally hear the word “no”.

Rejection should not be taken to heart, so instead focus on finding other vacancies.

•     A firm handshake and genuine sincerity are vital whilst in an interview.

There is only so much one say in interview so it is best to practice in selling to the person the strengths one possesses in order to get that job.

•     Bear in mind that it is unusual to be told at the end of the interview if you have been successful or not.

By keeping a list of the places where one went for interview, one will be able to call and follow up the status of the application.

You may find many part time jobs advertised at local levels, ie in the newspaper or on a community notice board. Check these frequently for any new vacancies that may be of interest. There are often part time jobs going at supermarkets, to find ASDA job vacancies, look online or in your local store.
